Podia Alternatives: 10 Options Compared for 2026

Short answer: if you left because of price, Systeme.io has a free plan and paid plans from $17/month. If you want a stronger course platform, Teachable Builder ($69/month yearly, no Teachable fee) or LearnWorlds. If you want one tool for everything, Kajabi. If your community is the draw, Skool, Circle or Mighty Networks. And if you'd rather own the platform, Moodle, Open edX or our LMS kits.

Podia has no free plan. It's a 14-day trial, no card needed, and then one of three plans: Mover at $49/month ($42 yearly), Shaker at $99 ($84 yearly) or Earthquaker at $179 ($150 yearly). Mover also takes 5% of every sale.

The limits are the bigger surprise for a lot of creators. Mover caps you at 100 email subscribers and 50 products. Shaker allows 500 subscribers and Earthquaker 1,000. Customers are unlimited on every plan, but if you run your email list through Podia, a list of 1,200 people is already past the top tier.

So the search usually starts with one of three questions. Where can I get the same storefront for less? Where can I get better courses? Or where can I grow my list without hitting a cap? Here are ten answers. We checked every price on the vendor's own pricing page on October 24, 2026.

Want to own your course platform? Start with the LMS Kit

The LMS Kit gives you 39 Next.js screens: student dashboard, course catalog, a video lesson player with bookmarks, a quiz engine, discussion forums, certificates, instructor tools and an admin panel, plus auth and commerce flows. $131 one-time. The Full-Stack LMS Kit adds a Supabase backend for $332. Try the live demo.

What Podia Actually Does Well

Podia is easy. You can sell a course, a digital download and a community from one storefront without ever opening a settings page you don't understand. That's rare, and it's why creators with a mix of small products like it.

It also includes the pieces most solo creators need: a website, email, and checkout through Stripe or PayPal. Shaker and Earthquaker charge no Podia transaction fee, and every plan has unlimited customers.

Where it falls short is depth. Course features are lighter than Thinkific or LearnWorlds, and the email subscriber caps make the built-in email tool hard to grow with.

When to Leave Podia

  1. You're paying 5% on Mover and the upgrade feels steep. At $42/month yearly plus 5% of sales, Mover gets expensive quickly once you're selling.
  2. Your email list is outgrowing the cap. 100, 500 or 1,000 subscribers depending on plan. A separate email tool plus a different course platform can be cheaper.
  3. Courses have become the main product. If quizzes, certificates and learner progress matter more than downloads, a course-first platform fits better.

10. Own It: The LMS Kit and Full-Stack LMS Kit

For creators who'd rather own the course platform outright than rent it.

A quick reality check first. Podia's appeal is that it bundles a storefront, downloads, email and courses. Our kits cover the course platform. They don't include an email marketing tool or a digital download store, so you'd pair them with tools you pick. Our custom LMS vs white-label cost guide prices that trade-off over three years.

LMS Kit (frontend): 39 screens on Next.js 16, Tailwind CSS v4 and shadcn/ui. An 18-screen student experience, a 7-screen instructor dashboard, an 8-screen admin portal, plus auth and commerce flows. Video lesson player with sidebar navigation and bookmarks, a quiz engine with timer and results breakdown, threaded discussion forums with upvotes, live sessions, certificates and achievements. WCAG AA. Live demo.

Full-Stack LMS Kit (with backend): 55 routes wired to Supabase. 38 database tables with row-level security for students, instructors and admins. Supabase Auth with email, Google and GitHub sign-in. Quiz engine with pass/fail tracking, XP, badges, certificates, a leaderboard and streaks. Discussions, live sessions, study groups and messages. Instructor revenue tracking and student analytics. Admin coupons, announcements and an audit log. Live demo.

What you still bring:

  • LMS Kit: a backend and database, video hosting, server-side payment code, and email notifications
  • Full-Stack LMS Kit: video hosting, payment processing (Stripe isn't wired up), email sending, real-time collaboration and a production Supabase project
  • Neither kit has drip scheduling or cohort features

Pricing: LMS Kit $131 solo, $199 team, $349 agency. Full-Stack LMS Kit $332 solo, $499 team, $749 agency. One-time, with no plan limits.

Best for: Creators with a developer who want their own platform and no per-plan limits. See how it compares in Best LMS Templates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best alternative to Podia?

It depends on why you're leaving. For price, Systeme.io (free plan, paid from $17/month). For stronger courses, Teachable or LearnWorlds. For an all-in-one with funnels, Kajabi. For community, Skool or Circle.

Does Podia have a free plan?

No. Podia's pricing page offers a 14-day free trial with no card, then Mover ($49/month or $42 yearly), Shaker ($99 or $84) or Earthquaker ($179 or $150).

Does Podia charge transaction fees?

Mover charges 5%. Shaker and Earthquaker have no Podia transaction fee. Stripe or PayPal processing (2.9% + 30¢) applies on every plan.

Is Teachable or Thinkific better than Podia?

For courses, usually yes: both have deeper course tools. Podia is better if you sell a mix of downloads, courses and a community and want it all in one simple storefront. Teachable is the cheaper of the two at the entry level.

What is the cheapest Podia alternative?

Systeme.io, which has a free plan, then Skool at $9/month (with a 10% fee on Hobby). If you can self-host, Moodle and Open edX cost only hosting.

The Honest Take

Podia is still one of the easiest ways to sell a few digital products. The catches are no free plan, 5% on Mover and email caps that bite sooner than you'd expect. If price is the issue, Systeme.io. If courses are the business now, Teachable or LearnWorlds. If people come for the community, Skool or Circle.

If you're tired of plan limits altogether, price out owning it. Our cost guide runs the numbers, and the LMS Kit gives you a head start on the build.
