LearnWorlds Alternatives: 10 Course Platforms for 2026

LearnWorlds Alternatives: 10 Options Compared for 2026

Short answer: for a simpler setup, Teachable (Builder is $69/month yearly with no Teachable fee). For a strong course builder, Thinkific. For courses plus email and funnels, Kajabi. For the cheapest start, Systeme.io's free plan. For training employees, TalentLMS. And if you want to own the whole platform, Moodle, Open edX or our LMS kits.

LearnWorlds has the cheapest paid entry of the big course platforms. Starter is $29/month ($24 yearly), Pro Trainer is $99 ($79 yearly) and Learning Center is $299 ($249 yearly). Corporate is quote-only. There's a 30-day trial but no free plan.

The catch on Starter is a $5 fee on every paid enrollment. On a $30 course, that's a sixth of the sale. Pro Trainer drops the fee, but it's $79/month yearly, so a lot of creators sit on Starter longer than they should.

People also leave because LearnWorlds has a lot of settings. It's powerful, and that power takes time to learn. If you want something simpler, cheaper or more yours, here are ten options. We checked every price on the vendor's own pricing page on October 24, 2026.

Want to own your academy? Start with the LMS Kit

The LMS Kit gives you 39 Next.js screens: student dashboard, course catalog, a video lesson player with bookmarks, a quiz engine with timer and scoring, discussion forums, certificates, instructor tools and an admin panel. $131 one-time. The Full-Stack LMS Kit adds a working Supabase backend for $332. Try the live demo.

What LearnWorlds Actually Does Well

Interactive video is the standout. In-video questions and assessments make courses feel less like a playlist, and that's hard to match on simpler platforms. Assessments and certificates are strong too.

LearnWorlds is also good at looking like your brand. Many creators and training companies use it to run a fully branded academy. And it sells to businesses as well as individuals, which is why there's a Corporate tier.

So the reasons to leave are mostly about fit: the Starter enrollment fee, the learning curve, or wanting a platform you own.

When to Leave LearnWorlds

  1. The $5 enrollment fee is eating cheap courses. If you sell lots of low-priced courses on Starter, the fee adds up faster than a percentage would.
  2. You don't use the depth. If you rarely touch interactive video or advanced assessments, a simpler platform will be quicker to run.
  3. You want to own it. Your domain, your data model and no platform subscription. That's self-hosting or building.

10. Own It: The LMS Kit and Full-Stack LMS Kit

LearnWorlds sells you a branded academy. This is the version where you own the academy itself.

The math is simple: a hosted platform charges every month you sell, while your own platform costs a one-time build plus hosting. Our custom LMS vs white-label cost guide runs both over three years. The kits shorten the build.

LMS Kit (frontend): 39 screens on Next.js 16, Tailwind CSS v4 and shadcn/ui. An 18-screen student experience, a 7-screen instructor dashboard and an 8-screen admin portal, plus auth and commerce flows. Video lesson player with sidebar navigation and bookmarks, a quiz engine with timer, scoring and a results breakdown, threaded discussion forums with upvotes, live sessions, certificates and achievements. WCAG AA across every screen. Live demo.

Full-Stack LMS Kit (with backend): 55 routes wired to Supabase. 38 database tables with row-level security for students, instructors and admins. Supabase Auth with email, Google and GitHub sign-in. Server Actions for every mutation. A quiz engine with pass/fail tracking, gamification (XP, badges, certificates, a leaderboard and streaks), discussions, live sessions, study groups and messages. Instructors get a curriculum builder, student analytics and revenue tracking. Admins get approvals, coupons, announcements and an audit log. Live demo.

What's not included:

  • LMS Kit: backend, database or API logic, video hosting, server-side payment code, and email or real-time messaging
  • Full-Stack LMS Kit: video hosting, payment processing (Stripe isn't wired up), email sending, real-time collaboration and a production Supabase project
  • Neither kit has LearnWorlds-style interactive video, drip scheduling or cohort features. You'd build those or use a video host that supports them.

Pricing: LMS Kit $131 solo, $199 team, $349 agency. Full-Stack LMS Kit $332 solo, $499 team, $749 agency. One-time.

Best for: Training businesses and creators with a developer who want their own platform and no enrollment fees. Compare it with other templates in Best LMS Templates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best alternative to LearnWorlds?

Teachable if you want simpler, Thinkific if you want a stronger builder, Kajabi if you want email and funnels too. For employee training, TalentLMS. For a free start, Systeme.io.

Does LearnWorlds have a free plan?

No. It has a 30-day trial. After that, Starter is $29/month or $24/month billed yearly, plus $5 per paid enrollment.

Is LearnWorlds cheaper than Teachable?

At the entry level, slightly: $24 vs $29 a month billed yearly. But LearnWorlds Starter charges $5 per paid enrollment and Teachable Starter charges 7.5% per sale, so LearnWorlds takes more on courses under about $67 and Teachable takes more above that. Teachable's no-fee plan (Builder, $69 yearly) is cheaper than LearnWorlds' (Pro Trainer, $79 yearly).

Is LearnWorlds better than Thinkific?

LearnWorlds is better for interactive video and costs less to start. Thinkific has a stronger course builder and app store, but its cheapest plan is $82/month billed yearly.

Can I build my own LearnWorlds-style academy?

Yes, with engineering help. Moodle and Open edX are free and open source. Or build on Next.js with the LMS Kit for the interface, or the Full-Stack LMS Kit for the interface plus a Supabase backend. You'd still bring video hosting and payments, and interactive video would be your own build.

The Honest Take

LearnWorlds is one of the best platforms in the category if you use what makes it special. If interactive video and a branded academy are core to your courses, stay. If they aren't, Teachable or Systeme.io will be simpler and often cheaper.

And if you're paying a platform every month to host a brand you've built yourself, price out owning it. Our cost guide runs the numbers, and the LMS Kit is where the build starts.
