Rippling Alternatives: 10 HR, IT, and Payroll Tools (2026)
Rippling Alternatives: 10 HR, IT, and Payroll Tools Compared for 2026
Short answer: If you mostly use Rippling for US payroll, Gusto ($49/mo + $6/person) or Justworks ($50/mo + $8/employee) will cost less and take less setup. If you want a strong HRIS and can live with separate payroll, BambooHR or HiBob. For global hiring, Deel or Remote, both with prices on their pages. Mid-size and want one HCM suite: Paylocity, Paycom, or ADP Workforce Now. And if the IT side (devices, logins) is what you'd miss, pair an HR tool with JumpCloud.
Rippling's pitch is one employee record that drives HR, payroll, devices, and app access. Hire someone, and their payroll, laptop, and Slack account can all come from the same onboarding flow. It's a good idea, and it works.
The trouble is pricing and scope. Rippling's pricing page says plans "start at $8 per employee per month, with a monthly base fee," then routes you to a quote, because the real number depends on which modules you add. And there are a lot of modules: HRIS, payroll, benefits, time, recruiting, performance, learning, device management, identity, inventory, expense management, corporate cards, bill pay, travel, global payroll, and EOR. Teams that bought three of those often wonder what they're paying for.
Ten alternatives below. Every price comes from the vendor's own pricing page, checked in October 2026. Where a vendor only quotes, we say so.

Building an internal HR tool? Start from the UI
If you're an agency building HR software for a client, or a company with its own dev team that wants an internal HR app, the HR Dashboard Kit gives you 48 screens to start from: employee directory, org chart, leave with approvals, attendance, payroll and expense views, onboarding and offboarding checklists, performance reviews, and a recruitment pipeline on a kanban board. It ships wired to Supabase for auth, Postgres, and file storage, with Google and Microsoft sign-in. To be plain about it: this is HR UI, not a payroll engine. It doesn't calculate withholding or file taxes, and it doesn't manage devices or app access the way Rippling does. You'd still connect a payroll provider from the list below. $131 solo. Live demo.

What Rippling Actually Does Well
Rippling's core idea is the employee graph: one record for each person that every module reads from. Change someone's department and their payroll cost center, app groups, and device policy can update together. Nothing else on this list does the HR plus IT combination as tightly.
It's also broad. HR, payroll, benefits, time, recruiting, performance, device management, identity and access, expenses, cards, and global payroll are all sold under one roof, plus Workflow Studio for custom automations. If you'd otherwise buy five tools and wire them together, that matters.
So this list is mostly about two situations: you're paying for breadth you don't use, or you need one piece (US payroll, global hiring, HRIS) done differently.
When to Leave Rippling
- You use it for payroll and not much else. Gusto and Justworks publish their prices and cost less for small US teams.
- The quote grew with every module. Price two or three focused tools against your Rippling invoice.
- Your HR team wants a deeper HRIS. BambooHR and HiBob are built around the people side first.
- Most of your hires are abroad. Deel and Remote publish EOR and contractor rates.
- IT already runs its own stack. If identity and devices sit in another tool, Rippling's main advantage disappears.
1. Gusto
The simplest swap if Rippling is mostly your payroll tool.
Strengths:
- Simple: $49/month + $6/person (one state)
- Plus: $80/month + $12/person, adds multi-state payroll, time tracking, and scheduling
- Premium: $180/month + $22/person, adds a named advisor, HR guidance, and compliance tools
- No contracts, free account setup, unlimited payrolls on every plan
Weaknesses:
- No device or app provisioning
- Multi-state pushes you to Plus
- HR tooling is lighter than Rippling's HRIS
Pricing: 20 people on Simple: $169/month. On Plus: $320/month.
Best for: US teams under 50 that bought Rippling for payroll and never turned on the rest.
2. Justworks
Payroll with an optional PEO, at prices you can read.
Strengths:
- Payroll: $50/month + $8/employee, multi-state included, with HR tools and PTO management
- PEO Basic: $79/employee/month adds 24/7 support, HR consulting, 401(k), and an applicant tracking system
- PEO Plus: $124/employee/month adds medical, dental, and vision administration
- EOR at $599/employee/month for international hires
Weaknesses:
- No IT or device management
- Payroll plan lacks org chart and custom reporting
- PEO tiers are a big jump in cost
Pricing: 20 people on Payroll: $210/month. PEO Basic: $1,580/month.
Best for: Small US companies that want better benefits from a PEO and don't need IT automation.
3. BambooHR
The HRIS a lot of HR teams already know.
Strengths:
- Core: $10.25/employee/month, Pro: $17.50, Elite: $25 (companies over 25 employees)
- Flat monthly rate at 25 employees or fewer: $250 Core, $425 Pro, $650 Elite
- Ask BambooHR, an AI assistant for PTO and policy questions, goes deeper on Pro
- Strong people records, onboarding, and reporting
Weaknesses:
- No device or identity management
- The flat rate is steep for a 10-person team
- Payroll is a separate decision from the HRIS
Pricing: 50 employees on Core: about $513/month.
Best for: Companies whose HR team wants a proven HRIS and is fine running IT in a separate tool. More options in our BambooHR alternatives post.
4. HiBob
A people-first HRIS built for distributed mid-size companies.
Strengths:
- Modules for core HR, compensation (with Mercer benchmarking), hiring, learning, time and attendance, and a payroll hub
- Pitched at teams spread across several countries
- Employee-facing experience is a big part of the product
Weaknesses:
- Quote only. The pricing page is a demo form
- Payroll Hub scope isn't spelled out on the pricing page, so ask in the demo

Pricing: Quote only.
Best for: 100 to 1,000 person companies with offices in several countries that care about employee experience.
5. Deel
The global-first option, with most prices on the page.

- Contractors from $49/month each; Contractor of Record from $325/month
- EOR from $599/employee/month
- US PEO from $125/employee/month
- Recruiting from $14 per worker per month
Weaknesses:
- Global payroll pricing needs a demo
- Overkill for a single-country team
- Best value comes from bundling several Deel products
Pricing: Contractors $49/month, EOR $599/employee/month, US PEO $125/employee/month.
Best for: Startups hiring in several countries without local entities.
6. Remote
Deel's closest rival, with one of the clearest pricing pages in the category.
Strengths:
- Global Payroll from $29/employee/month, for countries where you have an entity
- EOR from $599/employee/month in 90+ countries

Pricing: Global payroll from $29/employee/month; EOR from $599/employee/month.
Best for: Teams with entities in some countries and EOR needs in others.
7. Paylocity
An HCM suite that also reaches into finance and IT.

- Workforce management with geofenced clock-in, scheduling, and shift swaps
- Talent, benefits, and an employee engagement hub in one platform
- Marketplace integrations with HR, finance, and IT tools

- IT coverage comes through marketplace integrations, with no built-in device management
Pricing: Quote only.
Best for: Mid-size US employers that want one HCM suite with a support team behind it.
8. Paycom
A single-database HCM where employees handle their own data entry.
Strengths:
- Every client starts on "Core," then adds modules across payroll, talent acquisition, time and labor, and more
- Beti automated payroll and employee-first data entry
- Payroll tax filing, general ledger, and garnishment administration
- No data syncing between vendors
Weaknesses:
- Quote only
- Heavy for small teams
- No device or identity management
Pricing: Quote only.
Best for: Mid-size employers that want payroll and HR in one database and fewer payroll corrections.
9. ADP Workforce Now
The big-vendor answer for mid-size companies.
Strengths:
- Three packages: Select, Plus, and Premium
- Deep payroll compliance and HR services
- A company that will still be around and a rep to call
Weaknesses:
- Quote only. Every package says "Get pricing"
- Older interface than Rippling
- No IT or device management
Pricing: Quote only.
Best for: 50 to 1,000 person companies that want a known payroll brand more than an all-in-one platform. Our ADP alternatives post covers the other direction.
10. JumpCloud
The piece to add if Rippling's IT side is what you'd miss. It has no HR features of its own.
Strengths:
- Device management and MDM: $9/user/month billed annually, $11 billed monthly

- You'll wire HR events to JumpCloud yourself or through an integration

Pricing: From $9/user/month (annual) for device management.
Best for: Teams that leave Rippling for a payroll or HR tool and still need device and login management.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Rippling cost in 2026?
Rippling's pricing page says plans start at $8 per employee per month, plus a monthly base fee. The total depends on which modules you buy, so the page sends you to a custom quote.
What is the best alternative to Rippling for a small business?
For US payroll, Gusto ($49/month + $6/person) or Justworks ($50/month + $8/employee). Both publish prices and take less setup. If you also want pooled health benefits, Justworks PEO starts at $79/employee/month.
Is there a Rippling alternative that handles IT and devices too?
Not as one product on this list. The closest setup is an HR or payroll tool plus JumpCloud, which covers device management from $9/user/month (annual) and identity with SSO and MFA in its bundles.
Rippling vs Deel: which is better for global teams?
Deel publishes its contractor ($49/month), EOR ($599/month), and US PEO ($125/month) prices. Rippling sells global payroll and EOR as modules on a quote. If global hiring is the main job, Deel or Remote is easier to price. If you also want Rippling's IT automation, stay.
Rippling vs Gusto for a 20-person company?
Gusto Simple costs $169/month for 20 people in one state, and Plus costs $320 for multi-state. Rippling starts at $8/employee plus a base fee before modules. If you won't use device management or app provisioning, Gusto is usually the simpler buy.
The Honest Take
Rippling is the best product here if you actually use HR, payroll, and IT together. Nothing else ties a new hire's paycheck to their laptop and app logins as cleanly.
Leave when you're paying for that combination and only using one part of it. US payroll: Gusto or Justworks. A real HRIS: BambooHR or HiBob. Global hires: Deel or Remote. One mid-size suite: Paylocity, Paycom, or ADP Workforce Now. And if you'd miss the IT side, add JumpCloud. If you're building your own HR software, start from UI you own and connect a payroll provider for the math.
Want it shipped without hiring a developer?
The build path above assumes you have engineers. If you don't, the team behind thefrontkit does done-for-you launches: we deploy the kit, apply your branding, and wire it to your stack. Fixed quotes, most builds ship in 2-4 weeks, from $1999.
