Typeform Alternatives: 8 Options Compared for 2026

Typeform's Basic plan is $28/month billed annually ($39 month-to-month), and it caps you at 100 responses a month. Same cap as the free plan. Plus gets you 1,000 responses for $56/month annually. Go one response past that on a regular basis and you're on Business at $91/month annually, or $129/month if you pay monthly. That's $1,092 to $1,548 a year for a form that collects 2,000 leads a month.

That response ladder is the main reason people search for Typeform alternatives. The others come up just as often: the free plan can't collect payments, branding removal starts at Plus, and HIPAA is Enterprise-only (custom pricing, sales call required). If you run a clinic intake form or want your survey data on your own servers, Typeform's self-serve tiers simply don't cover you.

Here are eight alternatives worth comparing. Every price below came from the vendor's own pricing page in September 2026, and we've noted monthly vs annual billing wherever it changes the number.

Building forms into your own product?

If you're a developer and the forms belong inside your Next.js app (onboarding, settings, checkout, account flows), a hosted form builder is the wrong tool. The SaaS Starter Kit ships accessible form components with validation, auth screens, and settings UI in Next.js + Tailwind + shadcn/ui, so the data lands in your database from day one. $79 one-time.

What Typeform Actually Does Well

Typeform still makes the nicest-feeling forms on the market. The one-question-at-a-time flow, smooth transitions, and big type make a 12-question survey feel like a conversation, and completion rates reflect that. Logic jumps are easy to build visually. The integrations catalog is deep, and the newer Growth plans add lead enrichment and Salesforce sync for marketing teams.

If your form is a brand touchpoint (a quiz on the homepage, a high-intent demo request), that polish is worth real money. The alternatives mostly win on price per response, on features Typeform gates behind higher tiers, or on where the data lives.

When to Leave Typeform

Four signals:

  1. You keep bumping the response cap. Plus stops at 1,000 responses a month. If a campaign pushes you to 1,200, the next self-serve step is Business at $91/month annually. Tally, Youform, and Fillout's Business plan don't meter responses the same way.
  2. You need payments on a small budget. Typeform's free plan can't collect payments. Tally, Fillout, and Paperform all take payments on their entry tiers.
  3. You handle health data. Typeform reserves HIPAA for Enterprise. Jotform includes it on Gold, and Zoho Forms includes it on Premium, both self-serve.
  4. Accessibility or data ownership is a requirement. Hosted builders vary a lot on keyboard support, error messaging, and screen reader labels. If you're shipping forms to government or enterprise buyers, test them yourself, and read our guide on form validation that doesn't frustrate users for what good looks like.

1. Tally

The free plan that makes everyone else look stingy.

Strengths:

  • Free plan includes unlimited forms and submissions (fair use), conditional logic, calculations, signatures, file uploads, and payment collection
  • Notion-style editor: type / to add blocks, and you're done in minutes
  • Integrations with Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make, and webhooks on free
  • 45+ languages with RTL support

Weaknesses:

  • Free forms carry Tally branding; removing it is a Pro feature
  • Partial submissions and drop-off analytics are Pro-only
  • Less visual polish than Typeform out of the box (custom CSS on Pro fixes a lot)

Pricing: Free. Pro is $29/month, or $290/year (about $24/month). Business is $89/month, or $890/year.

Best for: Startups, indie makers, and anyone who wants Typeform's feature set before they have Typeform's budget.

2. Jotform

The everything form builder, and the cheapest self-serve route to HIPAA.

Strengths:

  • Thousands of templates, PDF generation, approvals, and a big app/table ecosystem
  • HIPAA features on the Gold plan, no sales call needed
  • Classic multi-field layout or card-style (Typeform-like) forms
  • Payment integrations with most major processors

Weaknesses:

  • Every paid plan is capped on submissions and active forms (Bronze allows 25 forms)
  • The interface is dense; lots of settings to wade through
  • Free Starter plan shows Jotform branding and caps at 100 submissions

Pricing: Starter free (100 submissions/mo, 5 forms). Bronze $34/mo annual or $39 monthly (1,000 submissions). Silver $39/mo annual or $49 monthly (2,500). Gold $99/mo annual or $129 monthly (10,000, HIPAA). Enterprise is custom.

Best for: Clinics, schools, and ops teams that need HIPAA or heavy workflow features without an Enterprise contract.

3. Fillout

The response-limit killer.

Strengths:

  • Free plan gives 1,000 responses a month, ten times Typeform's free cap
  • Unlimited seats and forms on every plan
  • Payments available on all plans, including free
  • Native integrations with Airtable, Notion, and HubSpot that feel first-class

Weaknesses:

  • Branding removal waits until Pro ($480/year)
  • No HIPAA mention on the pricing page; Enterprise is the route for advanced security
  • Newer brand, so fewer third-party tutorials

Pricing: Free (1,000 responses/mo). Starter $180/year (2,000/mo). Pro $480/year (5,000/mo). Business $900/year (unlimited responses). Annual billing saves 20%.

Best for: Teams running Airtable or Notion as a backend who want high volume without per-response anxiety.

4. Youform

The closest thing to "Typeform, but flat-priced."

Strengths:

  • One-question-at-a-time conversational forms, the format people actually love about Typeform
  • Unlimited responses on every plan (fair use), so pricing doesn't climb with traffic
  • Logic, calculations, signatures, and file uploads on the free plan
  • Pro is $240/year, a fraction of Typeform Plus

Weaknesses:

  • Stripe payments and custom branding are Pro features
  • Smaller integration list than Typeform or Jotform
  • Pro includes only 3 team members

Pricing: Free. Pro $29/month or $240/year. Business $89/month or $720/year (5 seats, extra seats $10/month).

Best for: Marketers who picked Typeform for the look and left because of the response caps.

5. Paperform

Forms that behave like landing pages.

Strengths:

  • Free-form, document-style editor: mix images, video, and copy with questions
  • Unlimited submissions on paid plans
  • No transaction fees on payments, with Stripe, Square, Braintree, and PayPal supported
  • E-signatures and automation credits bundled in

Weaknesses:

  • Free plan caps at 30 submissions a month
  • Not HIPAA compliant (Paperform says support is planned for H1 2027)
  • Custom domains cost an extra $20/month per domain on Pro

Pricing: Free (30 submissions/mo). Pro $49/mo annual or $59 monthly. Business $124/mo annual or $149 monthly. Enterprise is custom.

Best for: Small businesses selling services or products straight from a form.

6. Zoho Forms

Big submission allowances for very little money.

Strengths:

  • Basic plan allows 10,000 submissions a month; Standard 25,000
  • HIPAA available on the Premium plan
  • Tight fit with Zoho CRM, Desk, and the rest of the Zoho suite
  • Free plan allows 500 submissions a month, five times Typeform's

Weaknesses:

  • The builder feels more utilitarian than Typeform
  • Best value only if you're already in Zoho's world
  • Higher-tier prices weren't displayed on the page we checked, so confirm on the pricing page

Pricing: Free (500 submissions/mo). Paid plans start at $10/month billed annually. See the pricing page for Standard, Professional, and Premium.

Best for: Zoho shops, and anyone who needs high volume on a tight budget.

7. Formbricks

Open source surveys you can run on your own servers.

Strengths:

  • Core app is AGPLv3 and self-hostable with Docker for free
  • Link surveys, website surveys, and in-app surveys (iOS/Android SDKs on cloud Pro)
  • Conditional logic and API access even on the free cloud plan
  • Your response data stays in your infrastructure when self-hosted

Weaknesses:

  • Some features sit in a separate Enterprise Edition that needs a license key
  • Cloud plans are pricey per response ($74/month for 2,000)
  • Self-hosting means you own uptime, backups, and upgrades

Pricing: Self-hosted community edition free. Cloud Hobby free (250 responses/mo), Pro $74/month (2,000/mo), Scale $325/month (5,000/mo). Annual billing gives 2 months free.

Best for: Product teams running in-app feedback, and anyone whose security review rules out third-party form hosting.

8. Google Forms

The one you already have.

Strengths:

  • Free with a Google account, and responses flow straight into Google Sheets
  • Everyone knows how to fill one out
  • Quizzes, basic branching by section, and file uploads
  • Zero procurement friction inside Google Workspace companies

Weaknesses:

  • Plain design with limited theming
  • No native payments
  • Logic is section-based and gets awkward past a few branches

Pricing: Free. Business features come with Google Workspace; see the Workspace pricing page for your region.

Best for: Internal surveys, event RSVPs, and quick polls where looks don't matter.

Directional, and prices move. The takeaway is structural: Typeform's Plus plan stops at 1,000 responses, so 2,000 a month forces a jump to Business. Most alternatives cover that volume for under $600 a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best free alternative to Typeform?

Tally. Its free plan includes unlimited forms and submissions (within fair use), conditional logic, payments, and signatures. Youform is close behind if you specifically want the one-question-at-a-time format, and Fillout's free plan gives you a hard 1,000 responses a month.

Which Typeform alternative is HIPAA compliant?

Jotform offers HIPAA features on its Gold plan ($99/month annual) and Enterprise. Zoho Forms offers it on Premium. Typeform only offers HIPAA on Enterprise. Paperform says it isn't HIPAA compliant yet. Whichever you pick, sign the vendor's BAA before collecting any patient data.

Is there an open-source Typeform alternative I can self-host?

Formbricks is the strongest option. The core is AGPLv3 and runs on your own servers with Docker, which keeps response data in your infrastructure. Some advanced features need an Enterprise license key, so check what's in the community edition before you commit.

Why is Typeform so expensive?

Typeform prices by response volume. Free and Basic both cap at 100 responses a month, Plus at 1,000, and Business at 10,000. You pay for the polish and the integrations, but the steps between tiers are steep: going from Plus to Business adds $420 a year on annual billing.

Are Typeform alternatives accessible for screen reader users?

It varies by tool and by how you configure the form. Test with a keyboard only and with VoiceOver or NVDA before launch: every field needs a visible label, and errors should appear next to the field and get announced. Our form validation guide covers the patterns that work.

How do I migrate forms off Typeform?

Export your responses as CSV first, since that's the part you can't rebuild. Most tools don't import Typeform forms directly, so plan to recreate the questions and logic by hand; for a 10-question form with a few logic jumps, that's under an hour in Tally or Fillout. Then swap the embed code or link, and keep the old form live for a week to catch stragglers.

The Honest Take

Typeform is still the best-looking form builder, and for a high-stakes brand moment it earns its price. But for most teams, the response caps are the product. Once you're paying $1,092 a year to collect 2,000 responses a month, the math stops working.

Pick by the constraint that's hurting you. Tally or Youform if it's cost. Fillout if it's volume. Jotform or Zoho Forms if it's HIPAA. Formbricks if it's data ownership. And if your forms really belong inside your own product, build them there.
